The Mazda3 Inherits a Turbo Engine For 2021

The Mazda3 remains one of the most popular cars in Quebec and, for 2021, it will be even more popular thanks to the arrival of a turbo engine in the lineup. More than ever, the Mazda3 is becoming a must-have model in its category.

Above all, Mazda is finally giving its popular model the power that many enthusiasts have been asking for. Aesthetically, it will be easy to recognize the models powered by this new powertrain, as they will benefit from wider exhaust pipes, 18-inch black aluminum-alloy wheels, heated mirrors with bright black caps, as well as Turbo logos on both the trunk and the engine compartment.

Precisely where you'll find a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged Skyactiv-G engine. The latter will deliver 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque, provided that 93 octane fuel is used. Otherwise, the engine will deliver 227 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque on regular 87-octane gasoline.

The approach is not new. With the CX-5 and CX-9 SUVs, this same engine also offers different performances depending on the type of fuel you choose to put in it. The choice is left in the buyer's hands. Better yet, Mazda's i-Activ all-wheel drive comes standard with this powertrain.

Inside, leather can be found everywhere, in addition to the heated seats, it covers the shift knob and steering wheel. There's also a power sunroof and a dual-zone climate control system. The driver will even benefit from Mazda's head-up display, a system called Active Driving Display.

When it comes to technology, a 12-speaker Bose system will appeal to music lovers. As for the multimedia system's display screen, it's 8.8 inches in size and offers Bluetooth connectivity, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You'll also find two USB ports for connecting your devices. Security will also be omnipresent.

The Mazda3 will also enjoy a 100th Anniversary Edition, like some of the brand's other products. The exterior will be pearl white while the interior will be red.

A total of three turbo-engine versions will be offered. The base version (GT Turbo) will be offered at $32,900. With the Premium Package, the price climbs to $34,600. Finally, the price of the 100th Anniversary Edition models is $36,100.

What's most interesting is that every turbo-engine Mazda3 will be offered in both sedan and hatchback body styles. The latter will be available for an additional $1,000 over the sedan price.
