2023 Mazda CX-5 or 2023 Mazda CX-50: to help you with your decision

This makes the comparison between the CX-5 and the CX-50 very interesting. Both vehicles are excellent, but somewhat different.

The design

We don't really need to tell you that the two models in question are similar and carry the same signature. That's a given. However, if you look closely at the vehicles, you'll notice that the CX-50 appears to have a longer hood and is more aggressively styled with contrasting colored fender flares, decorative vents that accentuate its width, and black accents around the grille.

If you like your vehicles more discreet, the CX-5 will appeal to you more. Otherwise, the CX-50 will speak to you more.

The ride

Even though their names are very similar, the platform that houses our two stars is not the same. The powertrains are shared, but the experience is somewhat different. Some will prefer the performance of the CX-5, others will lean towards the CX-50 which appears lighter when guided on the road. A test drive of both will allow you to make up your mind.

Towing

You can't imagine towing heavy loads with a compact SUV. However, if you have to tow something, the CX-50 can tow up to 3500 pounds, 1500 more than the CX-5, which is limited to 2000 pounds.

If you don't have anything to tow, the CX-5 will never be a handicap in this regard.

Besides, both models offer you a lot of luxury and a high quality interior. Their powertrains are also known to be very powerful AND economical at the pump. It's hard to have both.
